Dr. Yindeng Quan, director of the Respiratory Department at Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center and professor at Guangzhou Medical University, said that "used air conditioners accumulate large amounts of dust and bacteria over time. When they operate, these bacteria blow into the room's indoor air easily causing respiratory diseases."
